A sophisticated contemporary master bedroom transformation on Jumeirah Bay Island, Dubai, defined by dramatic marble stonework, warm timber wall panelling, sculptural upholstery and precisely integrated architectural lighting.
Book a Free Site VisitThe focal point of the bedroom is the impressive floor-to-ceiling feature wall behind the bed, combining vertically detailed natural timber panelling with large-format marble slabs featuring expressive dark veining. The contrasting materials create a luxurious architectural backdrop while maintaining the warm, understated character of the bedroom.
The marble is used as a statement material rather than simply a decorative accent, extending vertically from floor to ceiling on either side of the bed. Careful stone selection, vein positioning and slab alignment give the wall a highly considered appearance, with the dramatic veining providing natural movement against the quieter timber centre panel.
Slim bands of concealed warm LED lighting are integrated between the marble and timber sections, washing the stone edges with soft illumination and emphasising the depth and layering of the feature wall. The lighting transforms the elevation after dark while keeping the light source itself discreet.
At the centre, the timber panel incorporates subtle vertical grooves that introduce texture without competing with the marble. This combination of bespoke timber joinery, specialist stonework and integrated lighting creates an architectural headboard wall rather than a conventional decorative treatment.
The bed itself features a generously proportioned curved upholstered headboard and bed frame in a tactile bouclé-style fabric. Its rounded profile softens the strong vertical geometry of the marble and timber backdrop, while layered neutral bedding and textured cushions reinforce the room's calm monochromatic palette.
At the foot of the bed, a long custom upholstered bench provides a practical seating area and continues the same soft material language. A dark architectural base beneath the upholstery introduces contrast and visually connects the furniture with the darker detailing around the room.
A sculptural bronze-toned decorative object positioned beside the bed adds another layer of material richness and complements the warm illumination within the feature wall.
Full-height sheer curtains and layered drapery soften the large glazing and filter natural daylight into the bedroom. The pale fabrics, warm timber and cream upholstery allow the dramatic stone wall to remain the principal visual feature.
The ceiling is kept deliberately minimalist, with slim linear HVAC grilles integrated into the architecture and discreet lighting detailing maintaining the clean contemporary composition.

The questions Jumeirah Bay Island owners ask us most before they start.
There is no useful average here — the homes are individually designed and the specification range is enormous, so a published figure would mislead more than it helps. What we can commit to is the method: a free site visit, a measured survey, then an itemised, line-by-line proposal against a defined scope with a dated programme and milestone payments. You compare real numbers, not a lump sum.
Yes. Structural changes, wet-area works, external modifications and anything touching the building envelope need the community management NOC first, then a Dubai Municipality permit. Apartment works inside the Bulgari buildings additionally need building management approval. Halo prepares the drawings and runs every submission in-house.
A full master bathroom rebuilt with integrated stone, bespoke joinery and new waterproofing typically runs 6–10 weeks on site once approvals are in place. Stone fabrication and joinery are made in parallel in our own factory rather than after the strip-out, which is where most of the time is saved. Approvals usually add 2–6 weeks before site start.
Yes — it is work we do ourselves. The vanity on this island project was cut from a single heavily figured slab with the basins, upstands and deep front fascia carried through as one continuous piece. It depends on slab selection, vein positioning and edge fabrication being planned together before cutting, which is why we do not subcontract it.
For single-zone work — one bathroom, a dressing room, a kitchen — yes, phased and sealed off so the rest of the house stays in use. For full interior renovations with structural or MEP works we generally recommend vacating: it is faster, cheaper and quieter, and on an island with controlled access it also keeps deliveries out of your way.

Vanities, cabinetry and stone surfaces at this level fail on the detail — vein alignment, shadow gaps, edge fabrication. We make them ourselves, so those decisions are ours to get right rather than a supplier’s to explain away.
Integrated basins, mirror edges, upstands and recessed plinths only read as one composition when they line up. Our surveys and shop drawings are done to the tolerance the finish needs, before anything is cut.
