About This Project

A sophisticated contemporary master bathroom transformation on Jumeirah Bay Island, Dubai, centred around an exceptional natural-stone double vanity, integrated stone basins, bespoke timber joinery and floor-to-ceiling illuminated mirrors.

The defining feature is the substantial floating natural-stone vanity, fabricated from heavily figured stone with dramatic grey, charcoal and warm mineral veining. Rather than using conventional countertop basins, the two sinks are integrated directly into the stone, allowing the vanity top, basin recesses, upstands and deep front fascia to read as one continuous architectural composition.

The pronounced veining continues across the substantial front edge of the vanity, making the stone itself a decorative focal point. Careful slab selection, cutting, edge fabrication and vein positioning are essential to achieving the continuous appearance across a vanity of this scale.

Twin matte-black deck-mounted mixers introduce a sharp contemporary contrast against the lighter stone and coordinate with the dark architectural detailing beneath and beside the vanity.

The entire stone vanity appears to float above a deep black recessed plinth, creating a dramatic shadow line at floor level and visually reducing the weight of the substantial stone construction.

Behind the vanity, two oversized floor-to-ceiling mirrors create dedicated grooming positions. Each mirror is framed by concealed warm LED lighting running vertically along the edges, producing a soft halo effect and adding depth to the bathroom elevation.

Between and around the mirrors, warm neutral textured wall panels introduce a softer material finish that balances the highly figured stone. The combination of stone, timber, mirror and warm illumination creates a refined material palette without excessive ornamentation.

To the left, a tall bespoke timber joinery unit introduces natural warmth and additional storage. The cabinetry is integrated with slim black metal framing and darker architectural panels, creating a sophisticated contrast between natural timber and contemporary metal detailing.

The mirrors also reveal additional large-format stone surfaces within the adjoining wet area, demonstrating how the same natural material language continues beyond the vanity to create a cohesive master bathroom interior.

The composition relies heavily on precision detailing: the alignment of the integrated basins, stone upstands, mirror edges, black shadow gaps, timber panels and lighting all work together to give the bathroom its clean architectural character.

Jumeirah Bay Island Renovation FAQs

The questions Jumeirah Bay Island owners ask us most before they start.

There is no useful average here — the homes are individually designed and the specification range is enormous, so a published figure would mislead more than it helps. What we can commit to is the method: a free site visit, a measured survey, then an itemised, line-by-line proposal against a defined scope with a dated programme and milestone payments. You compare real numbers, not a lump sum.

Yes. Structural changes, wet-area works, external modifications and anything touching the building envelope need the community management NOC first, then a Dubai Municipality permit. Apartment works inside the Bulgari buildings additionally need building management approval. Halo prepares the drawings and runs every submission in-house.

A full master bathroom rebuilt with integrated stone, bespoke joinery and new waterproofing typically runs 6–10 weeks on site once approvals are in place. Stone fabrication and joinery are made in parallel in our own factory rather than after the strip-out, which is where most of the time is saved. Approvals usually add 2–6 weeks before site start.

Yes — it is work we do ourselves. The vanity on this island project was cut from a single heavily figured slab with the basins, upstands and deep front fascia carried through as one continuous piece. It depends on slab selection, vein positioning and edge fabrication being planned together before cutting, which is why we do not subcontract it.

For single-zone work — one bathroom, a dressing room, a kitchen — yes, phased and sealed off so the rest of the house stays in use. For full interior renovations with structural or MEP works we generally recommend vacating: it is faster, cheaper and quieter, and on an island with controlled access it also keeps deliveries out of your way.

01
Stone and joinery made in-house

Vanities, cabinetry and stone surfaces at this level fail on the detail — vein alignment, shadow gaps, edge fabrication. We make them ourselves, so those decisions are ours to get right rather than a supplier’s to explain away.

02
Detailed to the millimetre

Integrated basins, mirror edges, upstands and recessed plinths only read as one composition when they line up. Our surveys and shop drawings are done to the tolerance the finish needs, before anything is cut.

03
One team from design to handover

Design, approvals, construction, joinery and MEP under one project manager — no gaps between a designer, a contractor and three subcontractors on an island with one bridge in.
